Finally, you made it, Graduates of Class 2022!

You are fortunate enough to attend your physical graduation and get your diploma on stage. These days, attending face-to-face graduation is a luxury to enjoy.

We cannot deny that the COVID-19 pandemic will have a lifelong impact on higher education institutions. During the peak of the pandemic, schools, colleges, and universities globally have leaped to transition to alternative remote teaching using online platforms to deliver lectures, conduct online examinations, and even shift to virtual graduation and recognition ceremonies. Indeed, the birth pains of transitioning to a digital platform to fit into this "new normal" was never an easy path. And yet, together, we were able to endure it and made the University of Makati (UMak) future-proof ready. Seeing you now, my dear graduates with happy faces proves UMak is resilient no matter the adversities. Thank you for keeping faith in us and trusting us while the university is in digital transformation.

As I look back, UMak has been assiduous and faithful to its vision and mission. Thus, I can proudly say that we have accomplished so much in the past few years. We continue to be a dynamic institution recognized for our academic innovations. These innovations started with the out-of-the-box ideas of our brilliant man who labored so much for all of us to come this far - our beloved former President, Tomas B. Lopez, Jr. To him, we will be forever grateful.

We are here to realize your goals in life. And for that standpoint, UMak has been maximizing its efforts in implementing responsive programs. Along with this thrust, our university submits itself to the tedious accreditations procedures primarily to achieve quality education. All these we have done to produce the best students we possibly can. And as we continue our journey, innovation in our curricular offerings is still our prime goal in facing new challenges, opportunities, and breakthroughs. Our dedicated passion for learning enables us to continue fulfilling our mission to serve our Makatizens.

Graduates, I am very confident that you can now confidently embark on your various causes and missions since you are equipped with a solid foundation. Thus, I urge you to challeng yourself and be enthusiastic about taking on new responsibilities. Consider this next stage of your life as an adventure filled with new opportunities and challenges. You are now prepared to take on whatever life may bring your way. Take every experience and opportunity to nurture your talents and skills to be better persons than you were. You will surely meet many challenges in life, but because of your knowledge and encouraging experiences from this university, I am confident you will succeed in whatever life brings you.

I wish to congratulate everyone for your efforts and for your diligence in accomplishing all tasks placed before you. I also congratulate the faculty members for patiently and loving sharing their knowledge and skills with their students. Most importantly, I would like to recognize the indispensable role of parents in ensuring their children's welfare. Let us not forget to pay tribute to them who strived and served as your guiding light for you to obtain your respective diplomas and for you to remain steadfast despite various storms in life. I expect all graduates will continue the tradition of excellence that has been the benchmark of the university since its establishment in 1972

Finally, dear graduates, I advise you all to take pleasure in life. Make time for yourselves and find balance and happiness in whatever you decide to do. After all, life is what you make it.

Congratulations, and move on! Be the best that you can be and make us proud!

Muli, maligayang pagtatapos sa inyong lahat. Binabato ko kayo sa inyong matamis na tagumpay!
